Take me out to the ball-game!

Geoff and I have been to several Astros game this season already. We are quite the fans. I grew up going to Minute Maid Park to catch games on the weekend. There is nothing quite like watching a good baseball game, over-looking the beautiful Houston skyline and being with people you love. My Dad got amazing tickets because it was Lone Star College night there (he is the general counsel for Lone Star) and we got the royal treatment. All you can eat (Geoff had 5-6 hotdogs... he really can eat!!) and it was an INTENSE game and we won at the bottom of the 9th. The team ran out on the field and it was just awesome! If we were rich, I would totally get season tickets... We love going that much. Go Astros!!

Warning...

I am issuing a warning to NEVER even try on expensive jeans.

Just do NOT do it.

I did.

And I am doomed.

I have tried to go back and wear less expensive brands.

But here I am again. Just purchasing a new pair.

I am an addict for Rock Rivivals.

Thank goodness I had some birthday money leftover to purchase these beauties.

Please help me justify buying jeans that cost an arm AND a leg?

FHE

My mom sent me a text yesterday saying Geoff and I needed to read this article when we could get a free moment. So for FHE last night, we decided we would study and read this article together.

I relate to almost every single word the couples in this article shared and felt so much peace after we finished reading it. How grateful I am to be a member of the church. Going through the last 3 1/2 years of infertility would have been SO much harder if I didn't have my faith. I love the line in this article when one of the couples shares their thoughts on being "healed" from infertility and other ailments in life...

“When someone has an ailment or an illness and they are healed as the result of a blessing, their faith is being strengthened. But for those who aren’t healed but continue faithful, their faith is being perfected. The first is a faith-promoting experience. The second is faith-perfecting.”

I am beginning to understand what it means to have my faith "perfected". I have a long road ahead of me to go, but I know good things are to come.

Year 27

Yesterday was my birthday. It was a wonderful day and I feel completely and utterly spoiled. I have amazing friends & family and a husband who just does everything he can to make me happy.

I started my day on the treadmill, just like any other day, and as I was running I had to put my age as 27-- and at first, it made me sad, because I honestly thought at this age that instead of getting up at 5am for work outs at the gym, I would be getting up for 5am feedings with a baby, or some other children related matter. I quickly pushed that aside when I was attacked my one of my wonderful friends Laura that jumped on me after my work out (lucky her to get a sweaty hug from me!) I needed that. Through that hug, I felt loved and cared for.

I really feel like the year 27 is going to be a monumental year for me. I don't know exactly what it will entail, hopefully becoming a mother through adoption, but whatever happens, I know that it is all in the Lord's hands now.

I spent the rest of my day being sung to by my 5th and 6th grade students and my good friend at work bought me lunch. Later that night we went to a sushi bar (my favorite) with the three couples we consider some of our best friends and it was just the perfect ending to a perfect day. I am blessed. Bring on 27!!

Spring Break 2011

The best part about being teachers is the MUCH needed breaks you get. Seriously, I think teachers end up working only like 2/3 of the year and get about 1/3 of the year off in summer break, spring break, thanksgiving break and winter break & all the other random days of the year you get off. It's great! This year we just took a trip down to Padre Island and it was SO nice! Our hotel was literally right on the beach and we spent lots and lots of time there. We went to the aquarium and Geoff enjoyed lots of good food (I did too, but he just likes it A LOT). We honestly wouldn't mind living down there someday... My favorite part was getting up in the morning and running on the beach. I could do that every morning instead of my regular 24hr fitness workouts. We have also been able to spend time with the two most adorable little girls around (Abbi & Ellie). They love coming and spending the night with Aunt Cami & Uncle Geoff and we kinda like them too!

Here are a few photos of our trip... also remember to spread the word about us trying to adopt (we have a cute little button the right you can go right on ahead and steal if you want)... the more people who know, the better! Love you guys!

Making room for a carseat...

We woke up this morning thinking my altima would have only "minor repairs" needed to be done to it after taking it in for some new brakes... well we found out it would cost more to fix what was wrong with it than it was actually worth! So... off we went to car shop and we found a beauty for a steal of a deal... has a nice roomy back seat which will fit a carseat perfectly when the time is right! 2006 Toyota Camry:

What a day

Today was one of those Sundays where I was just spiritually fed too the max. I feel like I need a nap because it was SO much to take in.

Being the 5th Sunday, we had a combined relief society/priesthood meeting. Walking in to the meeting, I was given this article as was everyone in attendance. The whole meeting was dedicated on educating ward members on LDS Family Services and Adoption. We were instructed by a couple in our ward, who are the stake representatives, about adoption and what services LDS family services provides.

They started out by sharing their own experiences in adopting their 3 beautiful children. I was so over-come by the spirit. I had tears streaming down my face and I couldn't make them stop no matter how hard I tried. At one point, the husband said that the birth mother of their first child they adopted, almost changed her mind in placing their daughter up for adoption to them... but once she saw the baby in his arms, she knew that child was meant for this couple, she was overcome by the spirit and went through with the adoption. He was so over-come with emotion, it was so easy to feel the love this man and woman had for their 3 children they have adopted.

It was an amazing meeting. I felt the love of my Heavenly Father. I just know that I need to be preparing for a special child that Heavenly Father is sending us through someone else. There is no doubt in my mind, especially after the spirit I felt today, that we are meant to adopt. It is going to be the most amazing day of my life when I get to hold that sweet baby for the first time. I am so grateful that I was able to get that confirmation, yet again, today.

and so it begins

I have decided I want to remember every detail of this whole process of adoption and will soon be starting an adoption blog, but for now, I will write my thoughts and feelings on this blog.

I can't even begin to describe the roller-coaster of emotions and heartache it has taken to get to this point... Three miscarriages and failed infertility treatments (not the doctors fault, just not in the cards for us at this time), and lots and lots of tears shed... and I can tell you it feels SO good to let that all go and begin this new step towards starting a family. Since we were first married, I have always said to Geoff that I would love to adopt someday. I have seen the blessings first hand with cousins who were adopted and friends who have adopted. Adoption is such a beautiful thing and I can't wait for the day when the phone rings saying we have been chosen. I get chills just thinking about it (:

We just submitted the first part of our adoption application today with our "down-payment" as well. It was the most exhilarating huge chunk of change I have ever spent in my life! Tears came to my eyes when I was able to get online and complete the first portion of our application for approval. I feel so at peace with this decision and truly feel so many blessings are coming our way because of this decision. We have fasted and prayed countless times and it was not up until about 2 weeks ago that we truly felt this is the route Heavenly Father wanted us to go through.

I had a friend ask me something the other day that really made me think. She asked that if I could have foreseen all of this and just skipped over the last few years of trying on our own and gone right to adoption, would I have? The question really made me think. As hard as it has all been, I think I would still want those experiences to have happened. Those moments, especially after each miscarriage, were some of the most spiritual moments of my life. I have vivid memories the most overwhelming feelings of love from my Father in Heaven and because of that, my testimony was truly strengthened.

We have much to do before we are officially approved. We have to still get finger-printed, FBI background check, get our CPR certification renewed (both about to expire), Physicals from our Doctor... and about a bajillion other documents... but I have never been more excited for any of these things (and I swear I have been fingerprinted about a million times in my life for employment purposes as have Geoff...) because I know how well worth it will all be.

I am so thankful to everyone for being so supportive and cheering us on through this process. We are SO incredibly blessed with friends and family who pray for us and love us more than we deserve!
