Growth

This last year has been a year of growth for Geoff and I. We both have ended up in different areas at our schools, teaching different subjects/grades... But what a learning experience it has all been. We work at completely and totally different schools. Geoff's school is in a very urban area in Houston and my school is in a very well off area of Houston. But what it all boils down to is that kids are kids no matter where they grow up and we thoroughly enjoy our jobs.

This year I was nominated for the Humanitarian of the Year at my school and much MUCH to my surprise, I won the award. I really have NO idea what I did to deserve this (and I am not saying that to be modest.... I really have NO idea...) but it sure is an honor to be given such an award. Last night, my school district had the Teacher/Humanitarian of the year banquet award ceremony and it was a very memorable experience. My parents were able to attend and it was so nice having them there to support me along with my Geoff. I am so grateful for my job and most importantly so grateful for the students I work with who challenge me every single day and keep me laughing along the way.

Take me out to the ball-game!

Geoff and I have been to several Astros game this season already. We are quite the fans. I grew up going to Minute Maid Park to catch games on the weekend. There is nothing quite like watching a good baseball game, over-looking the beautiful Houston skyline and being with people you love. My Dad got amazing tickets because it was Lone Star College night there (he is the general counsel for Lone Star) and we got the royal treatment. All you can eat (Geoff had 5-6 hotdogs... he really can eat!!) and it was an INTENSE game and we won at the bottom of the 9th. The team ran out on the field and it was just awesome! If we were rich, I would totally get season tickets... We love going that much. Go Astros!!

Warning...

I am issuing a warning to NEVER even try on expensive jeans.

Just do NOT do it.

I did.

And I am doomed.

I have tried to go back and wear less expensive brands.

But here I am again. Just purchasing a new pair.

I am an addict for Rock Rivivals.

Thank goodness I had some birthday money leftover to purchase these beauties.

Please help me justify buying jeans that cost an arm AND a leg?

FHE

My mom sent me a text yesterday saying Geoff and I needed to read this article when we could get a free moment. So for FHE last night, we decided we would study and read this article together.

I relate to almost every single word the couples in this article shared and felt so much peace after we finished reading it. How grateful I am to be a member of the church. Going through the last 3 1/2 years of infertility would have been SO much harder if I didn't have my faith. I love the line in this article when one of the couples shares their thoughts on being "healed" from infertility and other ailments in life...

“When someone has an ailment or an illness and they are healed as the result of a blessing, their faith is being strengthened. But for those who aren’t healed but continue faithful, their faith is being perfected. The first is a faith-promoting experience. The second is faith-perfecting.”

I am beginning to understand what it means to have my faith "perfected". I have a long road ahead of me to go, but I know good things are to come.

Year 27

Yesterday was my birthday. It was a wonderful day and I feel completely and utterly spoiled. I have amazing friends & family and a husband who just does everything he can to make me happy.

I started my day on the treadmill, just like any other day, and as I was running I had to put my age as 27-- and at first, it made me sad, because I honestly thought at this age that instead of getting up at 5am for work outs at the gym, I would be getting up for 5am feedings with a baby, or some other children related matter. I quickly pushed that aside when I was attacked my one of my wonderful friends Laura that jumped on me after my work out (lucky her to get a sweaty hug from me!) I needed that. Through that hug, I felt loved and cared for.

I really feel like the year 27 is going to be a monumental year for me. I don't know exactly what it will entail, hopefully becoming a mother through adoption, but whatever happens, I know that it is all in the Lord's hands now.

I spent the rest of my day being sung to by my 5th and 6th grade students and my good friend at work bought me lunch. Later that night we went to a sushi bar (my favorite) with the three couples we consider some of our best friends and it was just the perfect ending to a perfect day. I am blessed. Bring on 27!!

Spring Break 2011

The best part about being teachers is the MUCH needed breaks you get. Seriously, I think teachers end up working only like 2/3 of the year and get about 1/3 of the year off in summer break, spring break, thanksgiving break and winter break & all the other random days of the year you get off. It's great! This year we just took a trip down to Padre Island and it was SO nice! Our hotel was literally right on the beach and we spent lots and lots of time there. We went to the aquarium and Geoff enjoyed lots of good food (I did too, but he just likes it A LOT). We honestly wouldn't mind living down there someday... My favorite part was getting up in the morning and running on the beach. I could do that every morning instead of my regular 24hr fitness workouts. We have also been able to spend time with the two most adorable little girls around (Abbi & Ellie). They love coming and spending the night with Aunt Cami & Uncle Geoff and we kinda like them too!

Here are a few photos of our trip... also remember to spread the word about us trying to adopt (we have a cute little button the right you can go right on ahead and steal if you want)... the more people who know, the better! Love you guys!

Making room for a carseat...

We woke up this morning thinking my altima would have only "minor repairs" needed to be done to it after taking it in for some new brakes... well we found out it would cost more to fix what was wrong with it than it was actually worth! So... off we went to car shop and we found a beauty for a steal of a deal... has a nice roomy back seat which will fit a carseat perfectly when the time is right! 2006 Toyota Camry:
